Richard Sankey, Client Investments Director, CCLA Investment Management

Sankey

Richard is responsible for managing relationships with CCLA’s clients. He joined CCLA in 2022 after 20 years in the investment management industry, advising and managing charity and private client portfolios.

Transitioning from an army career, Richard completed an MBA at City University Business School (now Bayes Business School), subsequently working for Hermes Investment Management, Kleinwort Benson and Newton.

Richard is a trustee of the Forces Employment Charity (originally The Officers’ Association) and previously sat on the investment committee of the Drapers’ Livery Company and is a governor of Bancroft’s School. He is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI and holds the PCIAM qualification.


Deputy Henry Pollard, Master of the Guild of Investment Managers

Henry has spent over 35 years working in the City for a range of financial services companies. He has worked in Europe and Mexico as well as London in the commodity, derivatives, capital raising and fund management industries. He is currently Managing Director at C&E Capital Consulting, asset raising and representing funds and companies. He currently represents several green strategies. He has previously held senior positions at other UK and US asset management firms.

Henry is an elected Member of the City of London Corporation, first elected for the Ward of Dowgate in 2002. He is Chairman of the Markets Board (with oversight of our three London wholesale markets: Smithfield, Billingsgate and New Spitalfields) and currently sits on a range of other committees, including the Investment Committee and Pensions board.

Henry is a Liveryman of the Skinners’ Company and became a Freeman in 1991 and has served on the Court as an Extra Member. He was educated at a Skinner’s school, Tonbridge School in Kent.

He is a founding member and Master of the Guild of Investment Managers.


Tessa Younger, Stewardship Lead, CCLA Investment Management

Tessa leads CCLA’s ‘Better Environment’ work, managing all stewardship on environmental issues, aiming to drive clear improvements at the companies in which CCLA invests. Tessa Younger joined CCLA in January 2023

Previously, Tessa was Head of Engagement at PIRC Ltd - Europe’s largest independent corporate governance and shareholder advisory consultancy. Here she was responsible for developing active ownership strategies for asset owner clients, steering engagement with listed corporates, and effecting market-wide change through the promotion of strong policy stances, with a particular focus on climate risk and carbon emissions.

Notably, she ran the engagement programme for the Local Authority Pension Fund Forum (LAPFF) whose members comprise most of the local authority pension funds in the UK.

During this time, Tessa also worked closely with CCLA, collaborating on investor engagement, including leading on a ‘Say on Climate’ initiative encouraging FTSE companies to put their climate transition plans to a shareholder vote.


Eoin Murray, Head of Investment, Federated Hermes Limited

Eoin is Head of Investment and a member of the Senior Management Team for Federated Hermes Limited based in London. Eoin joined in January 2015 with almost 30 years’ investment experience. Eoin leads the Investment Office, which is responsible to clients for the investment teams’ consistent delivery of responsible, risk-adjusted performance and adherence to the processes which earned them their ‘kitemarks’. He is also the Executive sponsor for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

Eoin is a Freeman of the City of London, a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths, Past Master of the Guild of Investment Managers, a Fellow of the RSA, and a Fellow of the Linnean Society.

He is current Chair of the Exmoor Search and Rescue team, a fully qualified Swift-water Rescue Instructor, a Powerboat Rescue Operator, a Flood Water Incident Manager, and a Member of the Institute of Search & Technical Rescue. Eoin earned an MA (Hons) in Economics and Law from the University of Edinburgh and an MBA from Warwick Business School. Additionally, he has a Certificate in Energy Innovation and Emerging Technologies from Stanford University, a Certificate in Inclusive Leadership through Behavioural Science from the LSE, and a Diploma in Specialist Rescue from Coventry University. He is currently studying for a Masters in Sustainable Aquaculture at the University of St Andrews.


Dr Vian Sharif, Founder, NatureAlpha, and Global Head of Sustainability, FNZ Group

Vian is founder of nature and biodiversity insights platform NatureAlpha, and Head of Sustainability at FNZ Group. She leads the development of innovative technology solutions across financial platforms to catalyse the shift to more sustainable capital allocations, and ultimately a more sustainable world, working closely with academics and scientists from leading global institutions.

Prior to this she spent over a decade at global asset manager Investec.

As part of a number of governmental and international sustainability advisory groups, she was a Member of the Taskforce for Nature Related Disclosures Technical Experts Group and the UK Government's Business Advisory group for the Convention on Biodiversity. She is a founder member of the Taskforce for Nature Markets and board member of Nature Finance.


Alderman Alison Gowman

Alison is the founder and Chair of the Livery Climate Action Group, a collaborative of 91 Livery Companies responding to the challenge of climate change.

Alison has worked in the City all her working life starting as a solicitor, specialising in commercial real estate at international law firm DLA Piper.

Alison became interested in the City of London early in her legal career. She stood for election first as a Common Councillor from 1991-2002 and thereafter as the Alderman of the Ward of Dowgate. Alison has served on most of the City's committees and is currently a member of the Bridge House Estates Board (Chair of the grant making arm, City Bridge Trust 2016-2019), Investment and Capital Buildings Boards. She is a Governor of the Museum of London and Museum of London Archaeology.

Alison undertook the role as one of the two Sheriffs of the City of London from September 2021- 2022.

She is a leading proponent on environmental and sustainable issues for the City of London Corporation and led the team for the Corporation’s work on green finance for COP26. Alison was the Deputy Chair of the City’s Green Finance Initiative and founder director of the Green Finance Institute. She has a particular engagement on green finance with Latin America.
